Goodbye 2008, Hello ’09

This year has been filled with plenty of stuff. From fashion highlights to "what?!", top songs that get stuck in everyone's head and even funny eye opening things. Like glow-in-the-dark converse, hooded scarves, and who knows what else.
Okay, and let's not keep this all fashion, the first African American president was elected, Barack Obama, and is officially starting his term on the 20th of January. His wife, Michelle Obama, pretty much awed everyone in her Narciso Rodriguez dress that she wore on election night. And then a devastating blow, Heath Ledger died. But he did a wonderful job in The Dark Knight.
--Starting with shoes: booties, fringe boots, square-toed heels and crazy shaped heels pretty much took over the shoe population.
--And then womens clothing took a turn into men territory, but it didn't look so bad. With trousers, vests, patent dress shoes, it actually looked alright and people could definitely work with it. Especially those that had to wear something dressy to work. It's not only men who can pull off menswear now.

Jasmine Di Milo Fall 08 Runway

--Something else that came as a huge devastation to the fashion world was the death of Yves Saint Laurent who died at 71.
--Dresses...and hair, was filled with crazzzzy volume. Let's not forget the egg shaped dresses found on many runways during the fall.
Alexander McQueen fall Runway:

Not only were dresses crazy on volume, but color too, from brights to pastels, it was all here this year. And also sheer clothing popped up a lot on the runway this year.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Emanuel Ungaro, and Temperley London:

--So very many celebrities turned into designers this year. From Whitney Eve by Whitney Port (and her new show The City), dVb by Victoria Beckham, edie rose by Rachel Bilson, House of Harlow by Nicole Richie, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne, Lauren Conrad and many more.

Whitney Eve

Whitney Port has launched her own clothing line, as you probably already know.
Well, not only her own clothing line, but website too! Then again maybe you already knew that.
Anyways, i just found out.
Her Spring 09 Collection is now online and is flaunting it's stuff.
Look's like LC has got some competition.
OH ALSO just a little hint at what's coming up for LC. She's actually launching a premiere handbag collection as a guest designer for Linea Pelle. Check it out here.
I guess that was coming, since she always has some kind of handbag or clutch with her you know?
Well anyways, back to Whitney's line.

Whitney Eve Spring 09 Collection

Whitney Eve Spring 09

It's cute and it's definitely spring-y.
I'm just not exactly sure when it's all gonna go on sale.
Of course a few things are up at Kitson...but as for others, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Heidi Klum & Victoria’s Secret

So I just now discovered that Heidi Klum teamed up with Victoria's Secret to create a limited edition makeup line.
It consists of lip gloss, an eyeshadow quad, lipstick, and a liquid liner.
Ranging from $10-$20, i think it's pretty great.
The only downer is that everything comes in one color, and one color only.
It would've been nice if you could have been able to choose between different lip gloss shades or liner shades. But alright.
Other than that, it's wonderful and sexy.

A Little Bit Of That, A Little Bit Of This

If you don't know already, because I'm quite sure this is late news (just a tad), Rihanna is appearing in ads for....
It's the UNICEF Tattoo Heart Ad.
I don't know what's up. But it's like all the celebrities, even gymnasts (ahem, Nastia), are taking over ads of prestigious brands.
Or they're making their own clothing. Like Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port (Or her other line called Eve & A) and Victoria Beckham.
It's almost like half of the clothing industry is being made or inspired by a celebrity.
Not like that's a bad thing, just an observation.
And not like their clothing is horrible, i almost like them all.
And let's not forget about Rachel Bilson, whom i absolutely love.
Her line, Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans, there's not much but it's incredible. She is just so into style and I think I was always expecting a line or at least something from her.
Who might be next to bust out a line?

Smurfette Anyone?

The cosmetic line, Too Faced, just launched their new exclusive Smurfette line exclusively sold at Sephora.
And at the moment, there are 4 Smurfy things to choose from:

  • Liquid Eyeliner
  • Mood Swing Lip Gloss
  • Eyeshadow Palette
  • Illumination Face Powder

Priced from $17.50-$32.50

And the eyeshadow collection is full of beautiful, vibrant colors.
Also, the Mood Swing Lip Gloss...has been Smurf-ified. Too Faced had one before, and it's pretty much the same but the colors range from "Smurf-blue shimmer to beautiful berry."

Looks good to me!

Here Comes Nastia

Nastia Liukin, winning the gymnastics all-around gold medal at the Beijing Olympics this year, is stepping out.
This 19 year old girl is not only coming out as a guest star in Gossip Girl, but she's launching her own line of Vanilla Star Jeans.

Right now, online, there are 3 t-shirts designed by Nastia herself for sale for $20.

It’s There, Thakoon
