Eccentric Geometric

When you think of Spring, what do you think?
I think of flowers, sun, bright colors, pastels, some rain, pretty days, warmth, and the colors baby blue and pink for some reason.
And when you take a look at the Spring 09 runway shows, it's not only full of floral prints and bright colors, but geometric shaping.

Geometric, spring 09

Ed Westwick Can Sing

You love to hate him on the CW's loved TV show: Gossip Girl.

Ed Westwick, known to us as Chuck on Gossip Girl, can sing and act. With a heavenly British accent, he's in a band called The Filthy Youth. Take a listen:

Shine Out

If you look through the runway ready-to-wear collections for spring 09, you see bright colors that look absolutely beautiful. And you see florals and everything that just reminds you of spring.
But another thing you see is gold and silver. I never really saw those colors as a "spring-y" color, I guess. But the thing is, it kinda looks good.
They're not just a flat gold or silver color either. It's like a liquid-y fabric kinda thing you know?
Well, I'll just show you.

Spring 09 Runways

Scarlett and Dolce & Gabbana

If you haven't heard already, Scarlett Johansson is going to be the face of Dolce & Gabbana's new makeup collection.

scarlett johannson and D&G

So yes, the D&G makeup will come into view this spring!
And okay, this is kinda cool. Stefano Gabbana told WWD that the lipstick would be scented like rose. [In the ad above] Lovely much? “We wanted to create makeup with a scent. Domenico and I remember when we were children and opened our mother’s handbags — the scent of her lipstick trailed out. I observed that when women open makeup, they smell it first.”
I actually think that's pretty cool, because I don't think I've ever seen or heard of scented lipstick. Lip gloss, of course. But lipstick? I like the idea.
Prices are going to be around $20 for nail lacquer to $59 for powder foundation.
I'm excited, it should be much more than lovely.

D&G Kids

How many times have you heard the phrase, "The kids are the future."?
Or at least something like it. Well probably a lot. Since Obama's inauguration was just a little bit ago and he even showed up at MTV because really, teens can vote, they used it to their ability, and the future is pretty much revolved around kids. Okay it's not revolving exactly. But you know what I mean yeah?

D&G spring 09

What I was gonna say is, while reading an interview with Dolce & Gabbana, I found out that they have a kids line.
I was kinda surprised, but at the same time, not. Just because American Eagle recently came out with a kids line, called 77kids. And really, what else would you expect? It's like women and men get the huge brand name designers. While teenagers kinda sorta get it along with Abercrombie and what not. And now, it's just another step for kids. This is just a higher name brand.
D&G Junior it's called.
The website for it is just fun-filled. Full of music, bright colors, and just a totally attractive design.
Ranging from newborn clothing to even underwear and beachwear.
Not bad, not bad.
Thing is...I don't think it's in America. hahah. Because if you look at the site and click on "Online Store," it takes you to pick your country...and the United States is not there.
But if you live in Canada or anywhere else, you're good.

Forever 21 Taking Over Mervyn’s

Well, this is pretty old news.
But I really don't think a lot of people know. So yes. I'm deciding to inform you.
Mervyn's has filed for bankruptcy, so you'll probably be watching them close, sadly.
Actually, I never shopped there, but I guess this shows that some big name retailers are closing.
Anyhow, Forever 21 is taking over 15 of the Mervyn's store. While 31 will soon be Kohl's.
So really, I'm not exactly sure which one's will be Forever 21, and which one's will be Kohl's.
But according to the SF Chronicle Online, Kohl's is taking over the following Northern California Mervyns locations:
Bayshore Mall, Eureka

Capitola Mall

Northgate Mall, San Rafael

Point West Plaza,

Southland Mall, Hayward

Zinfandel Square, Rancho Cordova (Sacramento County)

As for Forever 21, I'm not exactly sure, but I'll let you know.

and btw, some info on Forever 21.
They have a new line called Shimbuya Mon Amour.
It's inspired by the fashion from Tokyo and Paris.
sooo yes, looks alright to me.

UPDATE: "Among the planned new Forever 21 locations are Lakewood Center in Lakewood, Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos, Montebello Town Center in Montebello and the Mall of Victor Valley in Victorville." here.

Free Makeup Please!

very-irresistible-givenchyLooking for something free?
Well you've found it!
This is pretty exciting, and almost unbelievable but hey, I'm not against it.

So because of a lawsuit that was filed against major department stores in California in 2003, we're all getting free makeup. Apparently it was because the department stores were holding back their inventory to bump up prices. But anyways, $175 million worth of free cosmetics products will be given out for a maximum of 7 days. Starting January 20th, 2009.

The major department stores include Macy's, Gottshalks, Dillard's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms, Saks Fifth Avenue, and more. Check out the link at the beginning of this entry for a full list.

And let's not forget the fragrance, lotion, and makeup from brands like Chanel, Lancome, Dior, Estee Lauder and more.

Boucheron (USA) Ltd.:
Femme Eau de Toilette (1 ounce/30 ml)

Chanel, Inc.:
Coco Mademoiselle body lotion (3.4 fluid oz)

Christian Dior Perfumes, Inc.:
J’Adore Eau de Parfum (15 ml)

Clarins U.S.A., Inc. (customers will have a choice of ONE of two products, while supplies last):
Clarins Energizing Morning Cream (30 ml)
Clarins Beauty Flash Bomb (30 ml)

Conopco, Inc. (distributed by Coty, Inc. on behalf of Conopco, Inc.) (customers will have a choice of ONE of three products, while supplies last):

Calvin Klein Euphoria Bath and Shower Crème (6.7 oz)
Vera Wang Princess Body Polish (5 oz)
Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker Shower Gel (6.7 oz)

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (customers will have a choice of ONE of two products, while supplies last):
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (15 ml/0.5 oz)
Clinique Moisture Surge (30 ml/1 oz)

Guerlain, Inc.:
My Insolence Eau de Toilette (15 ml)

L’Oréal USA, Inc. (formerly known as Cosmair, Inc.) (customers will have a choice of ONE of eight products, while supplies last):
Lancôme UV Expert 20
Lancôme Cils Design Pro Mascara
Lancôme Fatale Mascara
Lancôme Courbe Virtuose Mascara
Lancôme Primordial Skin Defense
Ralph Lauren Romance Shower Gel (6.7 oz.)
Giorgio Armani ACM Shower Gel (6.7 oz)
Lancôme Hypnôse Shower Gel

Parfums Givenchy, Inc.:
Very Irresistible Givenchy Eau de Toilette (15 ml)

And apparently, you just need to say that you bought some makeup between May 29, 1994 through July 16, 2003. Sounds like good to me.
Tuesday the 20th.
Don't forget.
