Zac Posen & Target

At 29 years old, Zac Posen, an amazing designer, is pairing up with Target. With a kick-off party in New York last night, Zac Posen for Target will be officially available at Target starting April 25th and only until May 29th. Mark your calendars!
This collection is probably the one that I'm most excited about. From seeing his designs on the runway, so fresh and clean-cut, and now seeing them at a low price (all 44 pieces are under $200) at a store located right in my city...it's perfect.
Among pieces will be swimsuits, shirts, and of course dresses, including a full-length gown.

When the Lights Go Down in the City

Earth Hour 2010 is going on today, March 27,2010 at 8:30pm, your local time.
A WWF organized global event, Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Following their lead, many other cities around the world participated in this event the next year. And now, this global event is reaching even more cities all around the world.
Basically what happens is that for one hour, starting at 8:30pm your local time, you shut off your lights. That's all. All it takes is one switch and you're one in possibly a billion people helping out to move from polluted air to cleaner air. Of course that's not the only benefit, but it's definitely one of the strongest. The goal of this event is to raise awareness in the world about climate change and energy conservation.
Last year, almost one billion people, in 87 countries, switched their lights off for this event. Among the greatest landmarks on the globe: the Las Vegas strip, Empire State Building, Big Ben, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and more, shut off their lights for an hour also.

This year, new monuments deciding to take part in this event include: Mount Rushmore, the Forbidden City in Beijing, and the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
If you want, you can sign up for Earth Hour.

Of course you can take part in this worldwide event but that's not the only thing you can do. Recycle, switch off your lights when you don't need them, carpool, save water, and countless others.

Strappy Straps

Looking at sandals, I've found these amazing strappy gladiators from Urban Outfitters. And well, I'm basically in love with them. They're perfect and they even have a bit of a heel.
As I looked through other websites, searching for the perfect sandal just for this spring-y weather, I came across these from Topshop and these from Nordstroms.
From knotted straps to studded straps to regular straps, the gladiator shoe from last season has reached its turning point--going from the normal looking (sometimes studded) straps to straps that have fantastic new additions.

Even seen on many of the Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear runways, the straps are everywhere.

Proenza Schouler. I love these because the straps are bungee cord; how astounding is that?

Runways With Surprises

Chanel Iman. Karlie Kloss. Agyness Deyn. Coco Rocha. Maryna Linchuk.
When you hear those names, you know they're models. You know that they walk the designer runways that happen every Fall and Spring.

How about these names?
Miranda Kerr. Gisele Bündchen. Adriana Lima. Heidi Klum. Alessandra Ambrosio.
They're the Victoria's Secret Angels of course. They walk the runway for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show that presents itself once a year.

Getting straight to the point, the Victoria's Secret Models have walked runways before. They are models just like Chanel, Coco, Maryna. Yet, they're a different "type" of model, I guess you could say. So it was a surprise, albeit a lovely one, that some of those Angels appeared on runways of Fall 2010 Fashion Week.

Alessandra Ambrosio walked the runway for Giles and Prada this year. In the past, she's walked for Oscar de la Renta (Fall 2001), Vivienne Tam (Fall 2001), Balmain (Spring 2000), and more.

This Fashion Week, Miranda Kerr walked runways for Balenciaga and Prada. Previous years, she's walked for Betsey Johnson (Fall 2007), Jason Wu (Fall & Spring 2007), L.A.M.B. (Spring 2007), and Threeasfour (Spring 2007).

So hello amazing models that bring curves to the Fashion Week Runway.

That really is Miranda Kerr. From the Balenciaga 2010 runway. No lie.

Fashion Week Begins With a Bang

Ports 1961, Richard Chai, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and more kick off Fashion Week Fall 2010 today. And although this is the start of an exciting week filled with amazing runways and beautiful models, it started off somberly.
British fashion designer, capable of bringing amazing designs to the runway, was found dead in his house this morning. Committing suicide, the designer is said to have been extremely upset of his mother's death, who had passed away days before.

His lower-priced line, McQ was supposed to show today, but due to his death it was immediately canceled.
McQueen brought unique-ness to his designs as well as the set. He never failed to bring awe, and even tears once, to the eyes of the audience.

Known for pushing up the bar, McQueen showed crazy prints, snakeskin, and heels that have never been seen anywhere else. His theatrical-like runway was simply amazing. No words can really describe how much of his passion for design and style were shown through his works.

As Fashion Week continues, it'll be evident that Alexander McQueen is no longer there, but his works will definitely live on to carry his name.
