One Less Angel

After 13 years of being an Angel, Heidi Klum is done. She told Victoria's Secret she was quitting and said "All good things have to come to an end. I will always love Victoria's Secret. It has been an absolutely amazing time." Without her, there are only four Victoria's Secret Angels left: Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, and Doutzen Kroes.

Z Spoke By Zac Posen

Wonderful designer Zac Posen decided to work out a lower-priced line called Z Spoke by Zac Posen. This is kind of old news because this line launched this spring exculsively at Saks Fifth Avenue with prices starting at a mere $78.
And just a little word about Zac Posen himself, he launched his designing career at 21 in 2001. Famous for his dresses, his lower-priced line features separates such as knits and khaki shorts.
Back to the line: According to WWD, Posen states that Z Spoke is "not a celebrity brand, but one more attuned to the street."
For the Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear Runway, Posen debuted his sister collection. Comprised of a majority of yellows, blues, and reds, Z Spoke features a rather "cartoon-y" feel to. Yet, definitely, his sister collection has pieces that can be worn by rather anyone and not just featured on the runway as well as celebrities. At a great price, these beautiful pieces are amazing and Zac Posen did a great job venturing away from his signature dresses to separates (and even some wonderful dresses) made for those who aren't going to spend $900 to $12,000 on a dress.

"Fashion is not about looking back. It's about looking forward." -Anna Wintour
Definitely just watched The September Issue and it was nothing less than I expected it to be: amazing.
Going into the making of Vogue's biggest issue of the year, the hectic atmosphere, the photography, and the story of Anna Wintour, it's all beautiful and comes together to make a wonderful issue comprised of fashion.
If you're interested at all, I highly suggest you watch it. Plus, The September Issue premieres on A&E tomorrow, September 25th, at 10pm.

Just a little post.
I'll end with a quote from the movie.

"Just because you like to put on a beautiful Carolina Herrera dress or a pair of J Brand blue jeans instead of something basic from K-Mart it doesn't mean that you're a dumb person." -Anna Wintour

Taking a break from fashion for just a post. I hope you don't mind :]
Anyhow, there's a website that I extremely like. It's made up of pictures, quotes, short clips, and music. I haven't exactly watched the short clips because mainly, I'm more interested in the beautiful pictures, thoughtful quotes, and good music.
Goodmorning & Goodnight first came to me when I played around with StumbleUpon (which is actually very nice when you're bored because you get to "stumble" across pictures and various webpages that are interesting). I "stumbled" across a quote from Goodmorning & Goodnight that I fell in love with. Sadly, I don't remember what it is anymore. But besides the point, the website is simple. It's lovely to read the quotes and view the pictures, as well as watch clips and listen to music. All the pictures are beautiful and refreshing. Actually, the website in itself is refreshing.
All this just to say that I highly recommend this site because it's beautiful.

Charlotte Ronson

Time to begin the Spring 2011 Fashion Week posts even though it ended on the 16th. At least I'm getting to it!
And I'm starting it off with Charlotte Ronson's collection which presented on September 11.
Her collection perfectly mixes feminine with grungy, piecing together plaids and florals with dark colors. She brings forth a laid-back look with slouchy and sheer clothing and combat boots and heels worn with socks.

Charlotte's first collection, C. Ronson, came out in 2000 and two years later she opened her own flagship store in New York. Gaining much success and publicity, she changed the name of her collection to Charlotte Ronson. As years went on, Ronson designed a line called Play by C. Ronson for Urban Outfitters. A year later, in Spring of 2009, she signed a deal with JC Penny and came out with a line called I [Heart] Ronson. Never failing to disappoint, Charlotte Ronson's collections for Fashion Week as well her collaborations with retailers are always beautiful and carry charm.

Month of Fashion

I love fashion. Watching models strut down runways in the clothing that designs dress them up in is, in one word, amazing. Then, looking even closer at the clothes: the type of clothing, the fabric, the patterns, the hair on the model, the shoes, the makeup on the model, the handbags, the various accessories used, the runway itself, and the little details in between. The amount of thought and precision that goes into all of this by the designer is absolutely incredible. From watching the separate outfits being put together, the empty seats, and the prep for the actual show, to the final product: a collision of art and music. It's beautiful. And I love it. I'm absolutely sure that the one day I get to experience watching a runway at New York Fashion Week, I will be overwhelmed by it all.
As I have heard so many times, "fashion is clothing; it's not big deal." Can you be any more wrong? It's an art. Filled with love and thought and the little details that go into it. Yes, it may be clothing, but no, it's not just clothing. The runways are filled with eccentric, dark, fun, amazing designs that are unique in every single way. It is the shape of the shirt, the way it flows, the way it hangs, the way it looks, the way it makes the wearer feel. If you think about it, certain articles of clothing make you feel a certain way. You don't wear sweatpants if you feel like going out and you don't wear a formal dress if you feel like working out. It is how it is. Whether it may be unconscious or not.
Fashion is a global industry that does not let down. And there is proof of that: Fashion's Night Out. Why else would we have a global day of celebrating fashion?

But anyhow, just some food for thought I suppose.

If you have yet to notice, I'm not doing quite well at keeping this up-to-date with school going on, but I'm trying to try my best...starting now!
Anyways, in the time I've been absent, these things have happened:
1. Fashion Week (still going on)
2. Fashion's Night Out on September 10
3. Lady Gaga in a meat dress
4. Most likely many, many more
Already, those top three things are a handful and I'll hopefully be able to cover them all in the next few posts, hopefully coming out within the next few days!
