Creativity At Its Finest

After the amazing designer, who took his runways and collection to the next level by turning it into a theater of unique clothing, passed away, Sarah Burton picked his collection up. Working side-by-side with Alexander McQueen for 15 years, there was no other person who could take McQueen's collection and carry on his legacy.

For the Spring 2011 Ready-To-Wear, Burton softened the stage. Something that was a key part of McQueen's collections and was usually dark. Taking also, McQueen's signature tailcoat, Burton also softened it with its edges unfinished. Though she might have made minor changes to McQueen's runway, she certainly will not let McQueen's unique designs die down.

Fashion Week Begins With a Bang

Ports 1961, Richard Chai, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and more kick off Fashion Week Fall 2010 today. And although this is the start of an exciting week filled with amazing runways and beautiful models, it started off somberly.
British fashion designer, capable of bringing amazing designs to the runway, was found dead in his house this morning. Committing suicide, the designer is said to have been extremely upset of his mother's death, who had passed away days before.

His lower-priced line, McQ was supposed to show today, but due to his death it was immediately canceled.
McQueen brought unique-ness to his designs as well as the set. He never failed to bring awe, and even tears once, to the eyes of the audience.

Known for pushing up the bar, McQueen showed crazy prints, snakeskin, and heels that have never been seen anywhere else. His theatrical-like runway was simply amazing. No words can really describe how much of his passion for design and style were shown through his works.

As Fashion Week continues, it'll be evident that Alexander McQueen is no longer there, but his works will definitely live on to carry his name.

Goodbye 2008, Hello ’09

This year has been filled with plenty of stuff. From fashion highlights to "what?!", top songs that get stuck in everyone's head and even funny eye opening things. Like glow-in-the-dark converse, hooded scarves, and who knows what else.
Okay, and let's not keep this all fashion, the first African American president was elected, Barack Obama, and is officially starting his term on the 20th of January. His wife, Michelle Obama, pretty much awed everyone in her Narciso Rodriguez dress that she wore on election night. And then a devastating blow, Heath Ledger died. But he did a wonderful job in The Dark Knight.
--Starting with shoes: booties, fringe boots, square-toed heels and crazy shaped heels pretty much took over the shoe population.
--And then womens clothing took a turn into men territory, but it didn't look so bad. With trousers, vests, patent dress shoes, it actually looked alright and people could definitely work with it. Especially those that had to wear something dressy to work. It's not only men who can pull off menswear now.

Jasmine Di Milo Fall 08 Runway

--Something else that came as a huge devastation to the fashion world was the death of Yves Saint Laurent who died at 71.
--Dresses...and hair, was filled with crazzzzy volume. Let's not forget the egg shaped dresses found on many runways during the fall.
Alexander McQueen fall Runway:

Not only were dresses crazy on volume, but color too, from brights to pastels, it was all here this year. And also sheer clothing popped up a lot on the runway this year.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Emanuel Ungaro, and Temperley London:
Runway Dresses

--So very many celebrities turned into designers this year. From Whitney Eve by Whitney Port (and her new show The City), dVb by Victoria Beckham, edie rose by Rachel Bilson, House of Harlow by Nicole Richie, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne, Lauren Conrad and many more.

McQueen and Target?!

so i just uncovered news from Fashionista, but it came first from WWD.
Alexander McQueen is one of the many soon-to-be designers (although they're already BIG) at Target.
You've heard of the GO Line at Target which features many small name designers, like Erin Fetherston, Isaac Mizrahi and others that i can't even think of right now.
But no, it's not gonna be the GO line, Target's launching a new fashion initiative called "Designer Collaborations"
Pretty snazzy eh?
hahah, i think it's WONDERFUL.
because hey, you get brand names like Alexander McQueen and others soon to be, at Target prices.
i LOVE it
All start's in March.
4 Months.
Target...the place to find designer clothing at great prices, not like $500 for a dress.

Spring 09 Runway.

Such an egg.

From so many shows, from so many designers, from fall fashion week 08
everything reminds me of eggs.
(ahem. :])

Alexander McQueen Runway

Giambattista Valli

i just really don't know what's up.
I feel like this is like dresses that you would wear those hugeee umbrella like things under to make your dress puff up and be round.
It's quite lovely to see something different on the runway though.
but i dont know if it's a keeper.
